Bella Mittens: Complete

Oh yes I did. When I asked Jose to pick up one red apple at the store, he was totally on to my plan. And when I asked him to photograph the mittens for me, he even pointed out that the overcast day would be perfect for the shoot. Very Forks.

The Bella Mittens pattern was easy and the chunky yarn knit up really fast. And warm...man, they are so warm! I'm learning that wearing mittens is much different than wearing gloves (these are the first pair I've owned). Turning keys, pressing buttons, gripping a cup or bottle. All of these things are difficult with mittens. Let the learning curve begin...

WIP Wednesday: the Bella Mittens

Love. Love the way the yarn feels, love the way the color turned out, love the way the mittens feel. Love it all! They are still (clearly) a work in progress, but I am really in love with this pattern.

fetching fingerless gloves

I really love fingerless gloves. They are the perfect balance of 80s-tastic and modern sass. I'd been looking for a pattern using sock yarn, when I saw the Fetching Fingerless Gloves as a shop sample at Yarn Tree Studio. It may have taken me a total of 3 hours for the pair. Maybe. And those were mostly mindless hours. I knitted a pair of mittens last year for my niece, and the thumb was such a pain that I had been dreading this pattern. The truth is, from now on, I will try to modify patterns to work the thumb this way. So simple. Now...when will it be cold enough here for me to wear them??

owlie sack and hat

When we found out that some friends were expecting a baby girl in October, I set out to find the right gift to knit. It had to be fun and quirky, yet practical. Since the one thing we share with these friends is a love of Phish, and the best member of the band (Mike Gordon) uses an owl on almost everything he does, I fell instantly in love with the owlie sleep sack and hat pattern.

Sick and Slouchy

I've been sick for the majority of this past week...and for most of the time, I didn't even feel like knitting. In the beginning though, I redboxed a few movies, curled up with my slanket and knitted the slouchy beret pattern that a friend recently found on Ravelry.

The yarn is a Malabrigo Merino Worsted that I picked up at the Quarter Stitch in New Orleans.

With the leftovers, I knit a headband from a pattern someone gave me a while back. I really love this yarn. I wish I had 4 more skeins in my stash. Alas.
